Labor Day Weekend: Part 2

Well, after our adventure on the road with the storm and the flood, wee had a much less exciting adventure where we got separated from our group for a while. Oh the joys of miscommunication in a land of no cell service! Eventually we found each other and we also found some great free camping spots. Once we were all settled, we set off to find some pine cones. We knew we were early, but we hoped to gather them and leave them out until they opened on their own. We didn't have much luck though.

Before we set out, Terral and Ethan were pounding sticks into the soft ground. Before long they had quite the gathering around them!
My honey shaking down some pine cones.
We went on the four wheeler to see if we could find a better spot. We didn't find much, but we had a nice ride!
Ethan especially loved it, and kept asking afterward to go on the "wheeler".
He had the perfect little spot to hold onto. He did really well!
Later, while we were back among the trees, Ethan found a stick that looked like a hammer and he started hammering pine cones. It was really cute!
We (well, really just Terral) experimented with making a pizza in the campfire. We brought our cast iron skillet and used a lid from one of our dutch ovens. It turned out really tasty!
