Henke Family Reunion

This year it was Matt's turn to be in charge of our gathering. He opted to have it in Delta, which I think was a very good thing with all the other things that happened in his life this summer (stuff like getting married, being in charge of his high school reunion, a move, job change, etc).

I thought he did a good job, and we really enjoyed ourselves. Some people came early and spent the 4th of July in Delta, but those of us who couldn't do that were there for the main events on Saturday.

We spent the morning having some good summertime fun at the res.
Terral spun all these kids around and around. :)

 A spa was made.
 Dinner was cooked.

And of course we played behind the boat as well.
I think these kids look just a tad nervous. ;)

 Matt and his bride. :)

Terral went out with some of the littlest boys. All ways well until a rough wave swept them off. : / Dads were in the water rescuing in no time and no one was hurt.

I just love this picture of my beautiful sister!
 Colter taking some z's.
 Ah! Buried feet!

When we were done playing in the water, we went back to the house for lunch and games.

Ethan sure loves grandpa's tractor!

He's also a fan of the cars he can drive.
 Crazy hair!
We played a live game of battleship. We lined ourselves up in "ships" with one person starting out as the bomber. If you got hit, you became a bomber. It was pretty fun and a little intense sometimes. :) Word of advice, though—if you decide to play this, make sure a hit is well defined.

 Our team winning. :)
Of course, the game ended with a full out water fight, but I didn't get any pictures of that.

Next up, Angry Birds! Matt gave each kid a block of wood to decorate. These were to be the "pigs".

 Ethan's work of art.
The kids were divided by age group. The group just older than the throwers set up the fort using the younger group's "pigs".
This is the fort for Ethan's group.
Then we tried to knock them down with water balloons!

In the end, the adults got to play too. :)

I thought the games were pretty clever, and they were fun too! We love to get together with family. And it was nice not to have the stress of being in charge this year. :)
